Clubz - Popscuro
Almost 3 years have elapsed since we were captivated by Mexican duo Clubz for the first time, and the lack of a LP seems like a torture since single after single, they keep treating us to the finest synthpop. Apparently we'll be able to listen to the very awaited album, Destellos, in May, but in the meantime, their newest track, Popscuro, just makes us more anxious to listen what they have been preparing for such long time.
The title of the track hints of what we can find in it, a mix of the words Pop and Oscuro (Spanish for "darkness") it's the best way to describe the way that the duo approaches the dancefloor, a dense atmosphere that has shiny accents in all the right places that could very easily be the hottest track in a club for the cool kids. Its funky-disco vibes and the nods towards an 80's aesthetic are the elements that Coco and Orlando use to create a track that is elegant and festive at the same time, the synths are almost like neon lights illuminating the urban landscape.
The band is the first Mexican act booked since 2013 to play at Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, the one that nowadays has the best curated line-up worldwide, and are ready to try their luck with bigger audiences, and if the upcoming album is as good as what we've been listening from them, they are going to be one of the big names in indie Latin music in the near future.
